Superchips engineers won't touch it (now I need to sell my Superchips 3865 Flashpaq.)ĭiablosport inTune: Based on the success of another person who completed a Dakota/Hemi swap, I am now trying this product.ġ) I updated the handheld tuner this weekend. I had the dealership momentarily place the Ram VIN back in the PCM and still received same T42 error. Have heard speculation from 1)because of the Dakota VIN in the Ram PCM to 2)maybe previous owner tuned the PCM and it is not stock (before the donor Ram was totaled). Superchips: T42 error when attempting to pull stock tune from PCM. ![]() I have recently looked at tuning options. I have about 30K miles on the swap (completed March 2012). The only thing not working is the Cruise Control due to a different number of connections through the clock spring. To remedy these issues, the dealer had to replace the Ram VIN in the PCM with the Dakota VIN. Only issues I had on the install that I could not fix were VIN mismatch between the Ram Hemi PCM and my Dakota's ABS module and Stock Stereo System (and AC/Heater controls). I head into to buffalo frequently to pick up car parts, so if you want to see it for your self before you invest $300 for a SC programmer, shoot me a PM and I will let you know the next time I am in buffalo, probably next week and two weeks after that.- I am running the 20 PCM and 5.7 Hemi Engine in my 2004 Dakota. MPG reading came from my overhead console. The strange part is I get 2-3 MPG better while tow mode versus no tow mode. I have goten away several times with no knock on a mix of 1/2 89 oct and 91. Here is the good news or bad news part, with the tow mode as you may already know you have to 91 oct. My buddy who always come with me racing noticed the change from no superchips to superchips while towing, mostly because the truck does not nearly "hunt" so much while towing. But once I have been able to use the tow mode flash the truck is capable of accelerating on said inclines, not huge acceleration but it does not lose speed anymore. Before going up any long incline the truck would lose speed rather quickly. I use my 3.9 a good amount of the time for towing as well (getting my SRT-4 to the 1/4). The SuperChip added the most noticeable power. ![]() Mods so far are a K&N intake, modded V6 TB, 1.7RR, ASP underdrive pully. I have a 3715 superchip programmer on my 3.9. Any Pro's and Con's or reccomendations are appreciated! not sure what else is out there, any suggestions?)ĥ.) Any additional comments and suggestions are encouraged.īasically, I've heard good things about this unit and seems to be in my price range so I'm leaning towards it. perfromance output results)?Ĥ.) How does this unit compare to other units out there.(I know that Jet offers a chip. Tuning.)ģ.) How many feel that this unit is the best bang for yer buck for my 3.9 (dollar value vs. see my point?)ġ.) Has anyone used this unit on their 3.9 and how were the results?Ģ.) How was this unit to use as far as simplicity (Program upgrades online, Program install into vehicle. This will probably be my last performance mod to my truck.unless the engine offers an opportunity for me to do internal improvements (Timing Chain= New Cam and roller rockers.Head Gasket=Possible Ported and Milled Heads. ![]() while the truck has showed very significant improvments in its towing abilities due to the mods I have made, I still feel there is room for improvment. Now I'm thinking that my next mod (Without dipping into the engine that is) will be a Superchips 3865 tunner. Im planning on buying a Modded and Polished V6 body off of Dak-Dur memeber here in a few weeks. I have done, A home brew CAI, Moved the IAT sensor to the Intake tube, Put on a 3" Dyno Max Super Turbo cat back System, OBX Racing 1 1/2" Tube Stainless Steel Headers, and an APS Precision 2500-2600RPM Torque Converter.
